On Father’s Day, we recognize the men who have raised us, impacted us, and loved us. Fathers, grandfathers, uncles, and more have had a hand in the development of countless others. At Hardin-Simmons University, we recognize faculty and staff who act as surrogate father figures and mentors to students far from home. We reached out to students to share a few words about their campus mentors, and here’s what they had to say.

“Having Dr. Kenny Stephens as my instructor this past academic year has taught me valuable life lessons that transcend the physics classroom. I appreciate his intentionality in teaching and his availability to help during office hours. I regularly went to his office hours for help with physics, and I appreciate how he linked studying and learning skills for physics to medical school and my future career as a physician” -senior Adaeze Ozuzu ’25

“Dr. Matt Jackson is the first person that comes to mind. He is very involved with the spiritual life of many students. Every week, together with his wife, Jill, he leads a Bible study for some college students from my church.
