Dr. Renee Collins, professor of education and Associate Dean Irvin School of Education, graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in middle school education from Valdosta State University in Valdosta, GA, in 1980. She taught middle school grades for 20 years in various parts of the world due to her husband’s United States Air Force assignments. After moving to Abilene, she continued teaching while completing her Master of Education degree as a reading specialist in 1998. She taught literacy and professional development courses in the IM体育平台 Irvin School of Education undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs since the fall of 2000. In 2009, she completed her Doctor of Philosophy degree in the area of curriculum and instruction at Texas Tech University in Lubbock.

Collins is actively involved in serving children through a summer literacy camp, Dream-Catchers, which targets ages kindergarten through eighth grades. She loves to travel, write, and serve those in need through a non-profit agency, Isaiah 58 Ministries, along with spending time with her husband, three children and their families – five grandchildren.
