Hardin-Simmons University has launched phase one of its Equine Assisted Services, incorporating hippotherapy, to expand therapeutic services for adults and children in the Big Country while providing experiential learning through community service. This unique therapy uses the natural movement of horses to support physical, occupational, and speech therapy goals — helping patients improve gait, balance, strength, speech, and more.

Led by licensed therapists and directed by Dr. Wendy Anemaet, professor of physical therapy, our services combine expert clinical care with hands-on learning opportunities for IM体育试玩 students across disciplines. Hippotherapy is especially effective for individuals with neurological and physical conditions such as cerebral palsy, stroke, brain injury, multiple sclerosis, autism, and Down syndrome.

IM体育试玩 hopes to fill critical gaps in regional services by providing this specialized therapy close to home. Sessions are led by licensed professionals, with students assisting under supervision, ensuring quality care and valuable training for future clinicians.
